 Abstract:  The Francis McCracken Fisher Papers are composed primarily of dispatches dating from March of 1935 to October of 1936 that Fisher sent while stationed in Peiping (now Beijing) China. Also included are journals, newspapers, magazines, items written by communists in Yenan (including some OWI journals issued at the end of World War II), Fisher's 1933 thesis on press censorship in China, and materials from Japan, China, and America. Other items include a bond, money, and certificates issued in China, all of which are written in Chinese. Among the topics discussed most frequently are Chinese political leaders, drug addiction and smuggling, and the communist movement in Yenan.

He served on the Territorial Legislature under the name “Charles Franklin” and played a critical role in the creation of Apache County. He founded the Arizona Miner newspaper in Prescott and established the St. John’s Observer in St. John’s Arizona. The collection contains records for his various roles as well as financial and personal papers. There is a rich collection of correspondence regarding many historical facts in Arizona’s history.

Personal material consists of correspondence and family photographs, from marriage to Charles Fletcher Lummis, and later to Courtenay DeKalb, with whom she operated the Roadside Mine in Arizona. Photographs and correspondence related to the mine are present. Also included are typescripts of Douglas' published and unpublished articles, stories, and translations. Original drawings are by E.A. Burbank and Carl Oscar Borg. Correspondence with friends and publishers includes writers Eugene Rhodes, Henry Knibbs, Concha Espina, Vicente Blasco Ibáñez, José María Carretero, Pedro Labarthe, Guillermo Diaz-Caneja, and the publisher Phoebe Hearst.  Abstract:  Located at the border of Washington and Oregon, it was a Hudson Bay Company trading post from 1829-1846. One portfolio containing printed and holographic items related primarily to the 4th Infantry, based at Fort Vancouver. The earliest material consists of nine monthly post returns from 1854, signed by the commanding officer, Lt. Col. Benjamin Louis Eulalie de Bonneville. These post returns list officers by name; enlisted men by count; civil employees, their duties, and rate of pay; official communications received; also the names of anyone sick, or in confinement for desertion. A food survey report from 1856 is concerned with rotten pork, hard bread, and moldy coffee. Later correspondence, special orders, and general orders date from 1860 to 1866.

 Abstract:  Personal papers including a Citation Index, news clippings, articles, pamphlets, correspondence, mostly photo stats of materials pertaining to the Mexican Revolution, 1907-1920, during the years of Dr. Francisco Vazquez-Gomez’s political activity. Some original, handwritten materials and 35 millimeter films are included. The bulk of the material consists of copies of newspaper clippings about key figures of the Mexican Revolution, compiled by Dr. Vazquez-Gomez and used in the course of writing his book “Memorias Politicas, 1909-1913”. Biographical material and correspondence of Dr. Francisco Vazquez-Gomez, and his son, Ignacio Vazquez Gomez is included. His son, Dr. Ignacio Vazquez-Gomez continued to add to the research materials through the 1970s. Bulk of the material is in Spanish.
