Biographical Note
Kristin Bervig Valentine earned her B.S. from the University of Wisconsin, her M.A. from the University of Washington, and her Ph.D. from the University of Utah. She worked as a Professor of Communications at Arizona State University, where she specialized in oral traditions and literary criticism. Valentine also worked extensively with the Interpreters Theatre and directed the "Angle of Vision" project.
Scope and Content Note
This collection houses drafts of plays and books documenting the Readers Theatre and the Interpreters Theatre under the direction of K. B. Valentine at the University of Kentucky and at Arizona State University from the early 1960s to 2002.
Series I: Scripts (4 boxes) includes drafts of scripts for the Readers Theatre and the Interpreters Theatre as well as student written contributions, correspondence with authors, programs, research information, and photocopies of short stories. This series is arranged alphabetically by the title of the script.
Series II: The Angle of Vision Project (1 box) includes drafts of scripts, study guides, promotional items, calendars, and a comprehensive final report. It is arranged chronologically.
Series III: Festivals (2 boxes) includes fliers, applications, maps, financial receipts, hotel and restaurant information, letters, and programs for various performance festivals that Kristin Valentine or ASU participated in between the late 1970s and the 1990s. It is arranged chronologically by festival date.
Series IV: Class Materials (2 boxes) includes syllabi, handouts, and writings that Kristin B. Valentine created for her classes and is arranged alphabetically by subject.
Series V: Interpreters Theatre/Readers Theatre (1 box) includes fliers for student and faculty productions, audition notices, and other materials showing Interpreters Theatre and Readers Theatre productions at ASU and at the University of Kentucky. It is arranged chronologically.
Series VI: Black Interpreters Theatre (BIT) (1 box) includes scripts, research materials, play fliers, and production materials involving Black Interpreters Theatre at ASU. It is arranged alphabetically.
Series VII: Oversize Materials (2 boxes and posters) includes prompt books for Beowulf and Highly Classified as well as posters documenting the Angle of Vision project that were too large to fit in standard boxes. It is arranged chronologically.

This collection consists of sixteen boxes divided into seven series:
