Biographical NoteOften called "the Father of the Crashworthy Fuel System," S. Harry Robertson (1934- ) is a pioneer in crash investigation and aerospace safety education. His crashworthy fuel systems, known as “Robbie Tanks” to helicopter pilots, can be found in almost every U.S. combat helicopter today. They are also standard on military ground vehicles, police cars, and even high-performance race cars. Scope and ContentThe S. Harry Robertson papers document Robertson's work and interests in aviation, safety, and accident investigation. Included in the collection are accident investigation case files and photographs; "Library Information Files" containing technical reports, publications, brochures, and research materials used in the research and development activites conducted by Robertson and his companies Robertson Aviation and Robertson Fuel Systems; a collection of books on aviation, engineering, aviation history, aviation accidents, and safety topics; depositions given by Robertson on aviation safety and accident cases; FAA and NTSB documents and reports; conference proceedings; aviation periodicals; and a video library.
