Biographical Note

Parker and Hildegard Hamilton moved to Flagstaff, Arizona in 1956 after Parker retired from teaching mathematics at Antioch College, Yellow Springs, Ohio. Parker (known as Ham to his friends) managed the photography department at the Museum of Northern Arizona between 1958 and 1962. In the early 1960s, Parker studied photography with Ansel Adams and as a result left his position at the museum to devote his full attention to photographing the Colorado Plateau. Hildegard (known to her friends as Dilly) worked at the museum's annual Hopi and Navajo shows. Parker Hamilton died in 1977, Hildegard in 1979.
