Historical Note

This photo exhibit is part of a multi-media project produced by Jon Hilsabeck under the sponsorship of Dr. John Nicolson, Department of History. The project was financed by Dr. Richard Davies, Director, Center for Integrated Studies. The exhibit deals primarily with the history of copper mining in Arizona, showing past and present sites of activity. The first section (extreme left) is a comparison of past and present mining sites in Arizona. The second section depicts the history of the Jerome-Clarkdale area which represented an abundant and prosperous copper mining area in our state. The last two sections are miscellaneous photos of different mining locals and scenes in Arizona and Colorado. All photography by Jon Hilsabeck.

Scope and Content

This collection contains various pictures of different mines and mining equipment from cities such as Clifton, Bisbee, Silver King and Clarkdale. There are also various pictures from the city Jerome.
