Biographical NoteDr. John Smith and his wife Ida Smith were in the medical field, he a physician and she a nurse. Dr. Smith had a medical practice for many years in Clarence, Iowa, a small community in Eastern Iowa. He was called into practice after retirement during World War II. Scope and ContentThis film was taken by Dr. John Smith and his wife Ida Smith on a trip to California some time around 1939. They made a practice of stopping at the reservation to administer medical services to the American Indians. Footage on the film includes Bryce Park, Grand Canyon, Hoover Dam, and Catalina Island.
