Historical Note
The Arizona Educational Media Association (AEMA) was originally founded as the Arizona Association of Audiovisual Education in 1948, changing the name in 1983. It is an organization devoted to bringing technology and training to Arizona's teachers by providing educational workshops in media and fostering cooperation and resource sharing with other related professionals. They hold an annual technology conference, the Let's Not Get Too Technical Technology Conference. Since Arizona is such a large and scattered area, they have four separate regions. Each region has its own regional directors, who produce various workshops in educational technology throughout each year. AEMA's membership is currently at 150 people, which includes classroom teachers from elementary to high school, college and university professors, librarians, administrators, technology coordinators, and media specialists. Though much of the technology has drastically changed over the years, this association has been active and their goals to teach others in educational media have remained the same.
