Biographical Note

Rafael Badilla "Ralph" Gaxiola was born to Florentino and Carmen (Badilla) Gaxiola in Phoenix, Arizona on October 24, 1893. He was one of three children, including Frank Tyson (1891-) and Edward (1897-1963). Ralph Gaxiola married Maria Bayze and the couple had three children, Mary Geraldine (Gaxiola) Haynes (1928-), Gilbert Ralph (1924-1944), and Grace (Gaxiola) Shuga (1935-1997). Gilbert Gaxiola was killed in combat during World War II. Rafael Gaxiola died on August 28, 1944 in Los Angeles, California.

This collection houses 22 images depicting the Gaxiola and Garcia de la Lama families of Phoenix, Arizona.
