During the 1930s Grenville Goodwin was considered one of the leading field anthropologists in American Indian research. Goodwin was drawn to the Apache culture and spent the years between 1928 and 1936 living on the San Carlos Apache reservation.
Collection consists of Goodwin’s original notes and partial manuscript on Apache ethnobotany, the original manuscript of Apache Ethnobotany and notes written by Alfred F. Whiting who reviewed Goodwin’s work some thirty years later. Also included is a listing that links Goodwin's ID numbers with MNA specimens in the botany collection.
