Biographical NoteCecil Calnimptewa is a Hopi artist and carver who spent a period of time at the Arizona State prison in Florence, Arizona. In July 2006, he started drawing as a way to lift his spirits. Shortly thereafter, he began corresponding with Robert Hawk about his art and other family matters. At some point in 2007, he was released on parole. Scope and ContentCollection consists of materials created by Cecil Calnimptewa while in prison. These include correspondence with Robert Hawk, as well as a series of colored drawings of Hopi Katsinas. RestrictionsConditions Governing Use
