Biographical Note

William Lovell Savory was born in Ohio in 1916. He moved to California with his family in the 1930s and worked for Douglas Aircraft during World War II.

Sudie Ione Foster was born in Texas in 1921. She moved to Arizona with her family, and her father established a homestead at Cosnino, east of Flagstaff. She moved to Flagstaff as a young adult to work for the Mountain States Telephone Company as an operator, but quit her job when she got married.

Savory and Foster were married in 1944 and had four children: Randolph, Aaron, Kimberly and William, Jr. They began building what is now the Twin Arrows Trading Post in 1945 on land leased from the state of Arizona. Due to financial difficulties, however, they never completed the building.

William worked for lumber and mining companies in Arizona and Nevada, and he held jobs at several locations as a diesel mechanic. He moved to Kingman, Arizona after his retirement, where he prospected for gold. Savory died in 1991.

Ione went back to work for the telephone company until the early 1960s. She died in 1995.
