The Campbell family was prominent in Flagstaff history. Active in the sheep industry, the Campbells were also involved in the city's civic and political affairs. Hugh E. Campbell was born June 10, 1862 in Nova Scotia, Canada. He came to Arizona in the early 1890s, raised sheep, prospered and spent the rest of his life engaged in the promotion of the wool industry. As a strong Democrat, Hugh E. Campbell took a serious interest in civic affairs. He was elected to the Arizona Senate and any issue that could affect the prosperity and welfare of his community or Arizona secured his wholehearted support. He was very active with the Arizona Wool Growers Association of which he served as president for many years. He died July 13, 1923.
This collection contains photographs of Hugh Campbell's home in Flagstaff, a portrait of Hugh Campbell, and one of Campbell's old envelopes.
