Two manuscript proclamations by Sherbrooke and Griffith, dated September 1, 1814, during the British occupation of Penobscot, Maine. They call for surrender of arms, provisioning of British troops, and retention of American laws until British law can be instituted.
Written in pen-and-ink, one on each side of a leaf of paper. In the same hand, each is noted as being "A coppy"[sic].
