Biographical NoteErnest Sutherland Bates was a Professor of English at the Univeristy of Arizona from 1908-1914. He earned an AB from the University of Michigan in 1902, MA in 1903, and his Ph.D. from Columbia University in 1908. Scope and Content NoteLetters, 1910-1912, from Ernest Bates to Caroline Singleton, concerning their relationship, her studies in Europe, and his career at the University of Arizona.
