Biographical NoteDexter Kimball Oliver was born March 26, 1948 in Englewood, New Jersey to James Oliver, the director of the American Museum of Natural History in New York City, NY and Elizabeth Kimball. He first came to Arizona 1961 with his father and returned in 1963 to work as a volunteer in biological studies at the Portal, Arizona Research Station. He attended the University of Arizona in 1966 before leaving for the United States Navy from 1968-1970. He graduated from the University of Arizona with a Bachelor of Arts in English literature in 1974. He worked in the wildlife sciences with various agencies such as U.S Forest Service, U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service and the Arizona Game and Fish Department beginning in the 1970s. He began writing about wildlife and the outdoors in the 1980s and has published hundreds of articles as well as self published books. He married Glenda Romero in 1993. Scope and Content NoteThis collection contains the newspaper and magazine articles of Dexter Oliver. The majority of the articles relate to Arizona wildlife, hunting, trapping and recreation. Also included are personal materials related to Dexter Oliver's life and one CD of photographs and music. This series contains a bibliography of Oliver's work, biographical materials and a CD of photographs and songs by Oliver. This series contains magazine and newspaper articles written by Oliver, primarily related to wildlife, outdoor recreation and hunting and trapping. It is arranged alphabetically by publication.
