Scope and Contents
Frank Springer was a noted attorney for the Maxwell Land Grant Company, and later, president. He also represented the Atchison, Topeka, and Santa Fe Company. This collection includes materials related to Lew Wallace Springer, Frank's father. The collection also includes a privately printed book titled "Legal, Literary, and Scientific Activities of Frank Springer" which includes notes, memoranda, photographs, and newspaper clippings bound amongst its pages. Springer resided in New Mexico.

Materials related to Lt. Lew Wallace Springer of Las Vegas, New Mexico. Lew Wallace Springer fought in the battle of Chateau Thierry in France, 1918. He returned to the US after the war in 1919, but passed away after an airplane crash in 1928. Materials in this folder include one photograph, several newspaper clippings, and correspondence regarding Lew Wallace's death.

Diary of Robert Steere. Holographic manuscript travel-diary of a trip taken by Robert Steere in 1852 by camel with Bedouin guides from Cairo, through parts of Saudi Arabia and into what is now Israel. Robert Steere was born in Knoxville, Tennessee in 1822 and worked as a businessman and clergyman in Tennessee. He passed away in Knoxville, Tennessee in 1899.

Series XIII: Bibliophile Society collection, 1908-1920

Scope and Contents
Bibliophile Society materials, including correspondence, publications, facsimiles, receipts, and a small scrapbook. The materials in this collection were collected by Henry Howard Harper (1871-1953). Harper was a founding member of the Bibliophile Society, which aimed to promote fine book making. They also published books, bound books, and did other book-related work for members. Books published by the group were for "members only" and they capped membership at 500 individuals. Harper sat as the first, and only, Treasurer, participating from 1901 until the demise of the group in the 1930s.

Scope and Contents
The William E. Bigglestone papers include research materials related to several books about Tucson history. Topics include the Bufano bench, Tucson's war dead and Tucson Musicians' Association Local 771. William E. Bigglestone graduated from the University of Arizona in 1949 and Stanford in 1953. He worked at several archives including as the first archivist for Oberlin College. After retiring he returned to Tucson in 1987. He wrote several books about Oberlin College history and Tucson history. He died February 20, 2016.

Original manuscript titled "Spines in the Sun" by William Ross Halliday, Jr., authored in 1931. The manuscript is 37 pages and includes 29 original photographs, illustrations, and maps. This was a paper for Halliday's English Composition course for pre-med majors at Swarthmore College in Swarthmore, Pennsylvania. The paper discusses cacti of the Salt River Valley.

Scope and Contents
The George Dunlap Carr papers include photographs including 2 tintypes as well as 10 letters written by Carr to his family describing his travels and work. Also included are miscellaneous receipts and notes. George Dunlap Carr was born in Indiana and attended Barnett Academy in Charlestown but moved to Colorado for health reasons. He worked for the Atlantic and Pacific Railroad Company in New Mexico and Colorado and later for the El Paso Gold Mining Company. Transcripts of the correspondence is available.

The Jacinto Caamaño collection includes photocopies of Jacinto Caamaño diaries located in the Archivo General de la Nación, Mexico. Also included are copies of a published translation of the diaries as well as biographical materials. Jacinto Caamaño was a Spanish naval explorer who explored the coast of Canada and Alaska. Scope and Contents
This series includes page proofs of the manuscript "Enough Rope," authored by Dorothy Parker. Dorothy Parker, nee Rothschild, is the fourth and last child of Jacob Henry Rothschild and Annie Eliza (Marston) Rothschild. Dorothy went on to become a writer, selling her work to both Vogue and Vanity Fair in her early years. The novel Enough Rope was published in 1926 and became a bestseller.

This series includes the manuscript "Spherics: the Chief Properties of the Sphere," possibly authored by Thomas Elliot, circa 1871. Boards are loose and there is damage to the spine. Stamped 1817 inside of the book and there is an inscription to "Ms. T. Elliot Abey, to Joseph L. Elliot from Thomas R. W. Elliot, son of the above Mrs. Elliot, April 6, 1876."

This series includes correspondence from the San Antonio Copper Company. A majority of the correspondence discusses the closure and sale of the San Antonio Copper Company properties in San Antonio de la Huerta, Sonora, Mexico. The company was formed in 1908 under Arizona Laws and held its main office in Iron Mountain, Michigan. Work at the mine stopped in 1912 due to conflicts in the area during the Mexican Revolution. Items are arranged chronologically.

Scope and Contents
This series includes several manuscripts authored by Gene Fowler (March 8, 1890-July 2, 1960). Fowler worked as a journalist, author, and screenwriter. He had three children with his wife, Agnes Hubbard, including son Gene Fowler Jr. who was a noted Hollywood film editor. Fowler worked at the New York Daily Mirror, New York Evening Journal, New York American, The Morning Telegraph, and was also a newspaper syndication manager for other clients. His third novel, The Great Mouthpiece, is about William J. Fallon, an attorney, and from this novel, he became a Hollywood screenwriter. He worked on several infamous projects, including the 1935 adaptation of Call of the Wild and the 1941 reimagining of Billy the Kid. Fowler passed away in 1960 in Los Angeles after a heart attack.

This series includes materials related to Club Iris, a Mexican teen boys club in Bisbee, Arizona. The club was founded by teenage boys with "the purpose of being better citizens in the community." Founded in 1947, the first meeting was held on Saturday, September 13, 1947 with approximately 45 teenage boys and girls. Materials related to two plays the Iris Club staged, "Los Dos Hermanos" and "Yo Maté a Rosita Alvírez" are also included in the collection.

William H. Brown was Professor Emeritus, Animal Science at the University of Arizona from 1959-1994; BS, 1955, Washington State College; MS, 1957, PHD, 1959, University of Maryland. Born in Yakima, Washington in 1933, he researched the effects of DDT in dairy milk. He died in Tucson, Arizona in 2021.

Scope and Contents
"Bart Spicer" is the penname of Albert Samuel Spicer (1918-1978), an author known for the Carney Wilde, Harry Butten, Col. Peregrine White, and Benson Kellogg series of mystery/crime books. The Harry Butten series, under the penname of Jay Barbette, were written with Spicer and his wife, Betty Coe Spicer. Spicer also wrote several spy-themed novels. Several of his books were later adapted for television. He lived in Tucson for many years. The collection includes original manuscripts for "Act of Anger," "Adversary," the television script of "Aspen," and "A Long Way from Home".

The collection contains handwritten and typescript drafts of Peter O'Crotty's stories and screenplays. O'Crotty was born in Canada. He started working as a newspaper reported when he was 16, working in Hollywood for several studios, and later at the Arizona Daily Star (1950s). During World War II he served in the marines, later writing a television series titled "Once a Marine." He wrote several screenplays, including the materials within this collection. This collection includes official letters and notifications addressed to the mayor of Real del PArral, Bartolome de Candolias, written by Jose Fyani, Melchor de Peramas, and Hugo O'Conor, on different matters. 15 numbered folios. Dates range from January 9, 1775-August 15, 1776.
Jose Fayni, captain and governor of Nueva Vizcaya.
Hugo O'Conor, lieutenant colonel, governor of Texas between 1768-1770. Born in Dublin and a redhead, he was known to some Native Americans as the "red captain." In 1770, O'Conor was appointed commanding inspector of the inland presidios.

Jose Fayni, capitan y gobernado de Nueva Vizcaya. Hugo O'Conor, teniente coronel, gobernador de TExas entre 1768 y 1770. Dublines de nacimiento y pelirrojo, era conocido por algunos indios como el capitan colorado. En 177, O'Conor fue nombrado comandante inspector de los presidios internos.

Scope and Contents
23 silver gelatin photographs documenting African American enlisted soldiers serving in the segregated United States Army during World War II at Fort Huachuca, Arizona. Fort Huachuca was the largest training center for African American soldiers during the war, housing the 92nd and 93rd Infantry Divisions. The photos document uniformed soldiers in groups and alone with various weapons, automobiles, and visiting civilians.
