	Abstract:	The Spenazuma Gold Mining and Milling Company was formed in 1898 by Richard C. Flower to fraudulently sell stock in a non-existent mine. The scheme was exposed in 1899 by newspaperman George H. Smalley. The collection includes promotional and descriptive literature, assay certificates, and other papers concerning the Spenazuma swindle.

	Abstract:	Andres Moreno, 1840-1887, served in the 1st Infantry Regiment of the Arizona Volunteers, U.S. Army in 1865-1866. The collection includes photostats of enlistment and discharge papers, and record of service for Moreno, and muster roll of Captain Hiram S. Washburn's Company E, 1st Infantry Regiment, Arizona Volunteers, from Nov. 2 to Dec. 31, 1865, at Fort Whipple. Accompanied by correspondence, 1964, from Frank Moreno, donor and grandson, giving biographical information.

	Abstract:	Louis C. Hughes, 1844-1915, was an Arizona pioneer, lawyer, newspaper publisher, and politician. Hughes established the Arizona Daily Star in 1877 and published it until his death. This collection contains scrapbooks of newspaper clippings relating to Hughes' political career. Also included are various telegrams congratulating Hughes on his election to governor of Arizona.

	Abstract:	Louis C. Hughes, 1844-1915, was an Arizona pioneer, lawyer, newspaper publisher, and politician. Hughes established the Arizona Daily Star in 1877 and published it until his death. This collection contains a letter copybook of Hughes' correspondence while serving as Governor of Arizona Territory. Letters include references to appointments, recommendations, the territorial prison, and the Board of Regents. Letters are carbon copies and many are difficult to read.

	Abstract:	Samuel Clark, born in 1871, was the founder of Clarkston, Ariz. Operated mining properties in Ajo and Clarkston (later called Rowood) beginning in 1907. Laid out townsite of Clarkston in 1916. The collection includes mining papers, account books, records of leases, scrapbook of photographs and newspaper clippings, and other business and personal papers. Includes blueprints of maps, time books and expense accounts, and photographs of Clarkston and the Ajo Mining District. Also present are family photographs, subscription lists of Clarkston inhabitants, and account books for rental properties.

She lived with the Slaughters at their San Bernadino Ranch until her accidental death in 1900. Photographs are of Apache May at various ages, some with Viola Slaughter.

Also included are 88 pages of typescripts of news articles; some are the articles in the scrapbook.

	Abstract:	James Addison Reavis, 1843-1914, was a swindler and forger, famous for attempting to fraudulently obtain 7,500 sq. miles of Arizona Territory by falsifying documents in Mexico and Spain to show a Spanish land grant to Don Miguel Peralta in 1748. Photocopy of typescript relates his version of events surrounding the Peralta land grant claim. This text was reproduced in The Peralta Grant; James Addison Reavis and the barony of Arizona, University of Oklahoma Press, 1960.

	Abstract:	James Addison Reavis, 1843-1914, was a swindler and forger, famous for attempting to fraudulently obtain 7,500 sq. miles of Arizona Territory by falsifying documents in Mexico and Spain to show a Spanish land grant to Don Miguel Peralta in 1748. This collection includes photoprints of selected defendant's documents, supposedly from various archvies in Guadalajara, Mexico, purporting to prove the existence of the Peralta land grant claim. Includes an item by item critical explanation relating to forged features of the documents. Documents are in Spanish; with English explanation.
