Title:  Arizona Cotton Growers Association ead
 Date(s):  unknown
Abstract:  Originally founded as the Salt River Valley Egyptian Cotton Growers Association around 1913, they changed their name in 1917 to the Arizona Cotton Growers Association. From 1933-1943, the ACGA was shut down because of funding issues. In 1943, the ACGA was re-established with the objective of uniting cotton growers from around the State of Arizona. The cotton industry thrived in Arizona until the 1970s when government intervention made the production of cotton difficult. The cotton industry has been on the decline in recent time due to pests, such as the boll weevil, killing the cotton crop. In addition to the pest problems, environmental concerns and water rights still plague the ACGA and cotton growers across the State of Arizona.

Abstract:  The Arizona Mormon Pioneer Collection introduces researchers to the family histories of many original settlers in northern Arizona. Eighteen hundred and seventy-six marked the year that the first permanent Mormon settlements appeared in northern Arizona. Traversing the Utah Territory, settlers crossed the Colorado River at Lee's Ferry, and then made their way along the Little Colorado River. From this juncture, hundreds of Mormon settlers built towns, established schools and churches, and fought with locals across the face of the Arizona Territory before they could call it their home.

Abstract:  The Mary K. Allen Collection contains correspondence, writings by herself and others, annotated maps, field notes, drawings, and photographs, almost all of which related to the rock art left by the ancient peoples who inhabited the western United States, particularly the Colorado Plateau. Most of the collection consists of detailed photographs of rock art sites and the surrounding country. Marys particular interest was in the pictographs and petroglyphs of the Grand Canyon region, but her interests took her to sites in California, Nevada, Utah, Colorado, and New Mexico as well as locations all over Arizona. The manuscript portion of the collection includes field notes and annotated maps, formal manuscripts prepared by Mary Allen detailing her explorations and theories about stylistic elements in rock art, unpublished writings by others on archaeological topics, and correspondence with other rock art enthusiasts.
