Title:  Arizona Cotton Growers Association ead
 Date(s):  unknown
Abstract:  Originally founded as the Salt River Valley Egyptian Cotton Growers Association around 1913, they changed their name in 1917 to the Arizona Cotton Growers Association. From 1933-1943, the ACGA was shut down because of funding issues. In 1943, the ACGA was re-established with the objective of uniting cotton growers from around the State of Arizona. The cotton industry thrived in Arizona until the 1970s when government intervention made the production of cotton difficult. The cotton industry has been on the decline in recent time due to pests, such as the boll weevil, killing the cotton crop. In addition to the pest problems, environmental concerns and water rights still plague the ACGA and cotton growers across the State of Arizona.

Abstract:  The interviews in this collection chronicle the growth of Flagstaff's African American community. Following World War II, a significant migration occurred when African American sawmill workers from the southern states found they could earn a higher income in the southwest. In Flagstaff, they found a small logging town unaccustomed to their culture. According to their place of origin, some migrants perceived the city to be relatively accommodating while others did not. Most interviews include informal discussion of the timber industry, World War II, civil rights, and the Flagstaff police department. Project funded by the Arizona Humanities Council.

The incoming postal materials span from 1907–1910. The correspondence in this collection provides a snapshot of the life experiences of Amanda Graham, a woman living in the Arizona Territory during the early 1900s, along with those of her family and acquaintances located throughout various regions of the country. Family news, health, and crop growth are a few of the topics discussed. The collection also includes a few pieces of business correspondence, such as bills and credit notifications.  Date(s):  1891-1990
Abstract:  This is a collection of approximately 600 postcards relating to the State of Arizona. The postcards in the collection date from 1891 through the 1990s, but most of the items are from Arizona’s Territorial period through to the early 1920s. The collection includes real photo cards, greeting cards, and panoramic cards. The postcards in this collection are a visual demonstration of how Arizona has changed since the territorial period and many of the cards show buildings, people and ways of life which no longer exist. Messages on the reverse of these postcards comment on the experiences of inhabitants and visitors. Postmarks show post offices and in some cases towns which have disappeared, and demonstrate modes of postal delivery (such as railway post) which were key to the development of transportation throughout the western United States.
