 Abstract:  The collections represented within this guide are an index of the majority of photographic repository holdings of the Arizona Historical Society/Flagstaff . For detailed descriptions, see the box/folder listings in the guide container list under the "series" heading. The Arizona Historical Society- Flagstaff Ephemera, General Photo, and Oral History collections have been transferred to the AHS- Tempe location for processing. Collection access and reference will be provided by the Tempe archives staff during the project. Reference questions and requests can be submitted to Rebekah Tabah by email at rtabah@azhs.gov, by phone at 480-387-5355, or in-person Mondays - Thursdays 10am - 6pm and Fridays 9am - 4pm.

The collection has a large amount of primary material that Babbitt collection, such as hotel registers, court dockets and other related material from Coconino County.

 Abstract:  The Arizona Mormon Pioneer Collection introduces researchers to the family histories of many original settlers in northern Arizona. Eighteen hundred and seventy-six marked the year that the first permanent Mormon settlements appeared in northern Arizona. Traversing the Utah Territory, settlers crossed the Colorado River at Lee's Ferry, and then made their way along the Little Colorado River. From this juncture, hundreds of Mormon settlers built towns, established schools and churches, and fought with locals across the face of the Arizona Territory before they could call it their home.

 Abstract:  The Day Family were anglo Indian traders, on the Navajo Reservation in eastern Arizona. The collection includes the personal and business papers of Sam Day, Sr. (1845-1925) surveyor, Indian trader, legislator and United States Indian Commissioner; Anna Day, Sam Sr.'s wife (1872-1932); and of their children, Charles L. Day (1879-1918), Samuel Day, Jr. (1889-1944), United States deputy Marshall. The collection includes information on Navajo culture, stories and legends; the looting of Canyon del Muerta, and the Frank Dugan murder. The collection also contains 91 photographs depicting trading posts and eastern Arizona scenes.
