 Abstract:  Correspondence, research materials, published and unpublished manuscripts and articles, slides, photographs, and one audio tape, primarily from 1943 to 1957, of anthropologist George C. Barker. The collection documents Barker's anthropological research into folk drama and ritual, the social functions of language, the Pachuco language of Hispanic youths, and Yaqui Indian culture and customs. A 1964 gift to the Southwest Folklore Archives from George C. Barker, Sr. Deaccessioned from the collection in 1993 were approximately 0.2 feet of duplicates and items of a personal nature. In 1996 two 11 x 14 black-and-white photographs by Alfred A. Cohn were transferred to the L. Marguerite Collier Collection, Southwest Folklore Center Manuscripts Collection MS 611.  Abstract:  Includes song and music books, sheet music, and books, programs, articles, and brochures on folk dances and music, primarily of Mexico; a folk drama; correspondence; outlines and notes for folk dance and posadas productions; choreography for specific dances; and photographs. These materials, dating chiefly from 1935 through 1959, reflect Collier's interest in Mexican folklore, especially folk dance and the tradition of las posadas, and document her work in reviving las posadasand establishing Mexican cultural awareness at Carrillo School. This collection was a 1977 gift to the Southwest Folklore Archives from Mrs. Betty Sagerstrom. This collection was previously titled SWF 005.

 Abstract:  Chax Press is a small, Tucson based publishing house founded in 1984. Since opening they have published hundreds of books by creative, and innovative poets.  Abstract:  Abraham (Abe) Chanin was an author, historian, former publisher of the Arizona Jewish Post, sports editor at the Arizona Daily Star, and professor at the University of Arizona School of Journalism from 1976-1988. From 1988 to 1994, Chanin was director of the Bloom Southwest Jewish Archive at the University of Arizona. This collection contains interviews created by Abraham Chanin dating 1974-1977 with prominent Arizona settlers, politicians, University of Arizona faculty, and members of Native American communities on 30 audio cassettes.

Ecologists working with the Sonoran Desert Inventory and Monitoring Network aim to collect pertinent information on plants, water, air, birds, and climate by making observations at eleven National Park Service units. These inventories, collected by Powell, include information on birds, amphibians and reptiles (identified as 'herps' in the inventories), mammals, and plants at different locations across Arizona.

 Abstract:  Dr. Jack L. August, Jr. (1954-2017) was an expert in Arizona water-related politics, senators, and other historical subjects. His collection includes his personal materials, professional files, research files, writings, audiovisual materials, and memorabilia he collected throughout his life. August taught at several different institutions and held various positions at colleges, universities, and other history-focused institutions. He served as an expert witness on key pieces of water rights legislation in the state of Arizona. He researched several prominent Arizonan politicians including Barry Goldwater, Dennis DeConcini, and Evan Mecham. He also did several research projects surrounding Wade Church, Jim Chilton, the New Mexico Bar Association, and John R. Norton III, amongst others. A large portion of his research files are dedicated to water politics of Arizona including, but not limited to ANSAC, the CAP, the Colorado River Controversy, Native American/indigenous water rights, the Santa Cruz River, the Salt River, the Gila River, and others.
