Contains chiefly correspondence between the editor, Marnie Gaede, and the contributing authors of the book, Camera, Spade, and Pen, published by The University of Arizona Press in 1980. Also included are drafts of chapters by each author. The supplemental files in the second series relate to the production of the book, and include author releases, the final map of major archaeological sites in the Southwest, an introductory letter to the authors, and biographical perspective information about the book's contributors.

 Abstract:  This collection consists of research materials relating to Albert E. Ward's archeological work in New Mexico. A majority of the collection references "Site 48," a ruin that Ward excavated in New Mexico. Site 48's authenticity was later called into question, leading to several legal battles in which Ward participated, claiming that the site was authentic and his evidence was proof of a Spanish-Indian residential fort. Materials include correspondence, maps, reports, notes, and research files.

 Abstract:  A bound volume of 98 pages comprising 67 items of correspondence and related documents from the papers of Byron Cummings, spanning 1926 to 1947. Materials document Cummings's late career activities including the publication of his Kinishba book and a proposed handbook on Southwestern archaeology, the operation of Kinishba Museum and efforts to secure a salaried curator, the Arizona Hohokam Museum Association, collection donations, and professional correspondence with scholars and institutions. Correspondents include Senator Carl Hayden, F. W. Hodge of the Southwest Museum, Lula and John Wetherill, Jesse Nussbaum of the National Park Service, and R. E. Solosth. Table of contents and pagination were added by J. Barr, Arizona State Museum Library, July 10, 1968.
