Documentation compiled during this period concerns involvement of scientists and others at ASU in efforts by state and local government agencies, educational institutions, and private interests to lobby the federal government for placement of the new National Solar Energy Research Institute (NSERI) in Arizona. The institute had been established by the federal Energy Research and Development Administration (ERDA).
