 Abstract:  The Kenneth Carpenter Collection consists of various papers accumulated by Carpenter from 1974 through 1975. Documentation compiled during this period concerns involvement of scientists and others at ASU in efforts by state and local government agencies, educational institutions, and private interests to lobby the federal government for placement of the new National Solar Energy Research Institute (NSERI) in Arizona. The institute had been established by the federal Energy Research and Development Administration (ERDA). The collection is divided into two series.

 Abstract:  The Movimiento Artístico del Río Salado (MARS) Records consist of administrative files containing grant files, financial files, and general administrative files, exhibit and program files, printed materials, subject files, and correspondence documenting MARS and its' work in Arizona and the United States during the late 1970s to early 1990s. The MARS Records contain under administrative files series: five boxes of grant files, roughly one and a half boxes of financial files, one and a half boxes of general administrative files, roughly four boxes in the exhibit and program files series, three boxes in the printed materials series, half a box in the subject files series and half a box in the correspondence series.

 Abstract:  These interviews mention issues concerning Walnut Canyon, including cliff dwellings, Santa Fe Dam, trips, picnics, hiking and camping, vandalism, wildlife, Hopi and Navajo's departure from the area, hostilities between Indains and Anglos, and Native artifacts.
