               1860-2021 ead | | | | Date(s): | 1860-2021 | | | | Abstract: | The Empire Ranch Foundation (ERF) is a non-profit organization,
established in 1997, that works in cooperation with the Bureau of Land Management (BLM)
to protect, restore, and sustain the historical buildings and landscapes of the Empire
Ranch. The Empire Ranch was established in 1876 and has been a working cattle ranch
since, owned by two pioneer families: The Vails (1876-1928) and the Boices (1928-1969).
The Empire Ranch was later owned by corporations before being transfered to the Bureau
of Land Management, who enforces the preservation of the historic site. In 1997, the ERF
was established to help the BLM with preservation projects while also making sure the
site is still accessible to the general public. The materials in this collection are
from the ERF and reflect their daily operations, preservation projects, research
materials, oral histories, events, and other materials. Materials remain in the original
order as provided by the Empire Ranch Foundation upon their donation to Special
            Collections. | | | | Repository: | University of Arizona Libraries, Special Collections | | | | Subjects: | Ranches -- Arizona | Business Enterprises -- Arizona -- Archives | | | | Similar Items: | Find Similar Guides |

                2013-2014
            , ead | | | | Date(s): | 2013-2014 | | | | Abstract: | Court documents and media reports
relating to a dispute between Rainer W. G. Gruessner MD and the University of Arizona
College of Medicine - Tucson, Arizona Board of Regents, University of Arizona Health
Network, University Physicians Healthcare. Dr. Gruessner was, at the time, the head of UA
College of Medicine Department of Surgery. One of the other players in this dispute was the
then dean of the UA College of Medicine - Tucson, Steve Goldschmid MD. What makes this
dispute particularly interesting is that the UA College of Medicine in its infancy also
endured an intense and lengthy controversy between its founding dean, Merlin K. DuVal MD,
and its first head of the Department of Surgery, Erle E. Peacock, Jr., MD. | | | | Repository: | University of Arizona Libraries, Special Collections | | | | Subjects: | Medical colleges | Medical colleges -- Faculty | Medical education -- Arizona | | | | Similar Items: | Find Similar Guides |
