Pages 38 to 78 contain writing on the reverse side that is the draft of a paper prepared for the Carnegie Institution and bears no relation to the catalogue; the paper was reused for the catalogue. The volume documents three areas: Broken Flute Cave, Prayer Rock Cove, and Black Horse Canyon. Broken Flute Cave notes cover rooms 1-16, burials, and cists 33-65, including a cross section through the Great Kiva Circle. Prayer Rock Cove notes cover Caves I-VI and Ram's Horn Cave, with rooms, masonry structures, floors, and cists documented for each. Black Horse Canyon notes cover Caves VII and VIII. and printed materials documenting the life and travels of Emile Cyrus Houle.
The bulk of the material relates to his medical career as a surgeon for the
S. P. de Mexico Railroad Company and USA Medical Corps in France during WWI,
and archaeological excavations undertaken in Mexico and the American southwest.
Topics of interest include the Mexican Revolution, WWI, and medical research
and publications on a number of topics including yellow fever on the northwest
