	Abstract:	The Whiting Collection consists of over 55,000 pages of field notes and papers, preserved in 217 binders, along with some recordings. These binders are organized into the following categories: Anthropology, Botany, Santa Cruz, Dartmouth, Hopi, Navajo and Apache, Southwest, Taos and New Mexico, Havasupai, and Whiting-Personal. The bulk of the collection was amassed by the late A.F. Whiting over his forty-five year career in anthropology, ethnobiology, and linguistics.

Bourke describes visits to the Bannock Indians, Zuni villages, Navajo, Sioux, and various western military forts from May to June 1881. Includes descriptive index prepared by James Officer.
