 Abstract:  The majority of the photographs in this collection show scenes in California and date from the first part of the 20th century. Among the subjects depicted are Yosemite (including Half Dome, Yosemite Valley, and Bridal Veil Falls), the 1915 San Francisco World's Fair, Mt. Lassen, Carmel by the Sea, Los Angeles, Altadena, Santa Monica, the State Capitol, hotels, beaches, and numerous missions. Also included are images of surrounding states, including Montana's Glacier National Park, Washington's Mt. Ranier, Arizona's Grand Canyon, and Canada's Lake Louise.

 Abstract:  The University of Arizona Campus Landscape oral history audio cassettes measure 1 linear foot and consist of 13 audio cassettes containing interviews with ten individuals who were responsible for, or lent perspective to, natural resource decisions that influenced the University of Arizona's campus landscape development over a century. Envisioned by Elizabeth Davison, Founding Director of the UA Campus Arboretum, and recorded by students from the Environmental Decision Making in Applied Anthropology course in 2003, topics covered in the oral histories include descriptions of how the campus landscape once appeared, how it was maintained, a campus plant walk, and the origin of some plant types now found on campus. The collection includes edited, revised and final, formatted transcripts of each oral history, project notes, and articles related to the campus landscape.

The collection gives a historical view of Tucson at the edge of the Millennium. The photos were taken by amateurs, professionals, and people from all walks of life. They capture individual visions of what embodied Tucson in 1999. The majority of photographs are color or black-and-white prints and range in size from 4” x 6” to 16” x 20”. Many are matted and some are framed.
