The letters appear to be from family members, including a brother. The majority were written by the same person, and discuss matters of common concern, including health and money.

	Abstract:	Louis C. Hughes, 1844-1915, was an Arizona pioneer, lawyer, newspaper publisher, and politician. Hughes established the Arizona Daily Star in 1877 and published it until his death. This collection contains a letter copybook of Hughes' correspondence while serving as Governor of Arizona Territory. Letters include references to appointments, recommendations, the territorial prison, and the Board of Regents. Letters are carbon copies and many are difficult to read.
