 Abstract:  The bulk of the Frederick S. Dellenbaugh [FSD] and Elwood P. Bonney [EPB] Collection consists of correspondence between FSD and EPB. The two men correspond with each other from 1931 until Dellenbaugh's death in Jan. 1935. The majority of the letters concern Dellenbaugh's life and experiences in the Grand Canyon. There are also numerous New York newspaper articles about Dellenbaugh and his books. Additional information on Bonney, including correspondence, also can be found in the collection.

His father, James Stuart Douglas (1868-1949) was a mine owner and banker. His grandfather, James Douglas (1837-1918) was a mining engineer, metallurgist, industrialist, and the person for whom the town of Douglas, Arizona was named.
