Diaries, correspondence, and photographs provide biographical materials from her childhood through late career. Of special note are the letters to and from colleagues who shaped the ethnobotany field from the 1950s to the 1990s.

The collection also contains briefing notebooks on newsworthy topics of worldwide significance prepared for ABC News staff (1979-1990) and samples of worldwide staff assignments (1991).

 Abstract:  This collection documents Harry M. Bracken's role as a university faculty member protesting the Vietnam War through participating in teach-ins, organizing student protest groups such as Students for a Democratic Society (SDS), writing editorials, and giving speeches. It also contains intra-university documents that highlight Bracken's involvement in actively protesting the War and resulting interactions and communications with the ASU administration. Bracken's teaching notes are also included, from a myriad of philosophy and history courses taught by him over the course of his career, as well as extensive research notes on areas of philosophy, history, syntax, activism events, and court cases associated with civil and human rights violations. The collection also contains Bracken's personal communications via letters and emails to his students, colleagues, and publishers throughout his career. While the bulk of the collection dates from the mid to late 1960s, the documents collected range from the late 1950s to the early 2000s.

 Abstract:  The core of the Burroughs collection is 12 linear feet of manuscripts, dating from 1938, including several drafts of a number of Burroughs' major works including The Soft Machine, Ah Pook Is Here, and The Wild Boys. Also included are drafts of unpublished works such as Numero Uno Nu, The Revised Boy Scout Manual, and The Unspeakable Mr. Hart, each of which had portions significantly revised by Burroughs before their inclusion in his published oeuvre. Additionally, there are clippings and source materials (used by Burroughs in his text manipulations) dating from his tenure at the unnamed Beat Hotel at 9 rue Git-le-Coeur in Paris during the late 1950s-early 1960s.

The topics of the interviews concern the diversity in the lives of women mainly in their work experiences, especially labor struggles, the health care professions, and family lives, particularly problems of family violence. The interviews were conducted by Fran Leeper Buss between 1976 and 1990. They were transcribed as a collaborative project, directed by Janice Monk, of The Southwest Institute for Research on Women and The Schlesinger Library on the History of American Women.

 Abstract:  This collection consisted of papers from Tucson resident, Brian Bateman. These include workshops and administrative documents from the Arizona Human Rights Fund, newspaper articles and clippings spanning from 1983 to 2004, information and ephemera on the Jim Toevs congressional campaign in 1991, materials from the Be True to Yourself Film Campaign in 1991, and a report on diversity and queer presence at the U of A (circa 1990). This collection is part of the Arizona Queer Archives (AQA), a community focused archive through the Institute for LGBT Studies at the University of Arizona. It was transferred to Special Collections in 2020.
